This ELF mattress cover review aims to help you understand the pros and cons of elf (or e.l.f.) brand mattress covers. ELF mattress covers are also known as SleepSafe mattress covers. This is because the name of the company has the initials e.l.f. (eco living friendly), and the specific line of mattress covers is called SleepSafe. But is SleepSafe just a brand name, or do these mattress covers actually help protect you from bed bugs and other undesirable sleeping companions?
Happily, the answer is yes! Generally speaking, ELF mattress covers are some of the best mattress covers you can buy, especially if your goal is to prevent a bed bug infestation. However, they are good for several other purposes besides bed bug prevention as well!
Because ELF mattress covers are so well constructed, they not only keep out bed bugs, but also dust, dust mites, pollen and other allergens, as well as pretty much every kind of insect. This is because they are made of a tough fiber with microscopic pores; only air can slip through easily. And while the regular SleepSafe covers aren’t technically waterproof, in my experience, if you wipe up the spill fast, they won’t let the liquid soak through to your mattress nearly as quickly as sheets alone would. The upside of these covers not being waterproof is that there is no plastic lining, which means their breathable fabric keeps you from getting sweaty at night.
If you really need a waterproof mattress cover, ELF still has you covered, though; they have an entire RESORT line of SleepSafe covers which feature a polyurethane lining to ensure unintentional spills, or even repeated bedwetting, won’t reach your mattress and ruin it. And naturally, they have all the other features which protect you and your bedding from unwanted bed bugs and other allergens.
All ELF mattress covers also feature double-locking zippers, carefully attached so that there are no holes large enough for bed bugs to get through. They are safe to clean using your washer and dryer, which makes spring cleaning a breeze! Most folks who choose this brand of mattress covers especially like that washability, and I would definitely recommend running them through your washer and dryer once before using them…especially the pillow covers, so that they’ll be soft and comfy right from their first use.
ELF’s bed bug mattress Covers come in the sizes shown below. Bear in mind that they come in 9″ and 12″ depths, so make sure you measure the height (depth) of your mattress and order the size that will best fit:
- Crib (6 inch depth)
- Twin (9 inch depth or 12 inch depth)
- Long Twin (9 inch depth or 12 inch depth)
- Full (9 inch depth or 12 inch depth)
- Queen (9 inch depth or 12 inch depth)
- King (9 inch depth or 12 inch depth )
- California King (12 inch depth only)
If you suspect a bed bug problem, or if you just want to ensure you never have one, you will also want to invest in ELF’s box spring covers and bed bug covers for pillows, as well. But don’t take my word for it; Read these other ELF Mattress Cover Reviews, and decide for yourself!
